Just a little glimpse of me, and why I am so amazed that maybe the story of Noonday Collection perhaps did not randomly cross mine. During the pregnancy of my daughter, I was overcome by the evils of this world toward women. The Lord seemed to stir up this passion in me that at times overwhelmed me. He started to bring to my attention the horrors of human trafficking and prostitution. International Justice Mission was brought to my attention and did not let go of it. I agonized over what could I do? Anything? I remember being burdened to pray for the local prostitutes where I live and work. About a year later, during my questioning of a victim in a second degree assault case I was working on. (I work part-time as a paralegal for the State's Attorney.) I asked her if the perpetrators were involved in human trafficking, which was a question and red flag I would have never asked or recognized before. The answer was yes. This led to me being able to be apart of a completely different human trafficking investigation that rescued the prostitutes I had previously prayed for. The ringleader of that multi-state, multi-jurisdictional human trafficking ring is now awaiting trial after being indicted by the US Attorney's Office.
Enter in Noonday!
I was introduced to Noonday through the blog- It's Almost Naptime. I was intrigued by the name of the company mentioned in the blog post- Noonday Collection, and clicked on the link. Immediately, I was captured by the beauty of an Ethiopian necklace pictured, but even more so by the fact that Noonday came from one of my life verses that I had prayed for my son and myself- Isaiah 58:10. It states this- "and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." I wondered if this could be another small way I could address the injustices in the world and yet at the same time by His grace enjoy the beauty of these handcrafted accessories made by men and women with stories beyond my comprehension.
During this past year as an Ambassador for Noonday Collection, I have learned so much about the complexity of poverty. Before Noonday, I didn’t know that poverty & AIDS is the number one reason for the massive world orphan crisis. I didn’t know that poverty forces so many into human trafficking. I didn’t know about intergenerational prostitution in India because young girls who are born into the wrong caste system have no hope for anything else- unless someone intervenes. Through Noonday Collection, as an ambassador I have been able to intervene, and you too can intervene- either through your Noonday Collection purchases or for even more impact, by hosting a trunk show. When you host a trunk show, you enable an Ambassador to share the stories of our Artisans and that beauty, fashion and creativity are being used as a vehicle for dignified economic opportunities for those most vulnerable around the world.
By hosting a trunk show, you can style your friends while making a lasting difference in the lives of these vulnerable populations. Plus you get free beautiful accessories. Or, if you are in the process of adopting, Noonday Collection will give you 10% in cash towards your adoption.
Contact me to schedule a trunk show. Can't wait to share Noonday Collection with you!
